Advanced Aerospace Composites

Our on-going aerospace development and manufacturing activities include the Stratus lightweight advanced composite unmanned aerial vehicle for mining exploration.

Stratus facts:
  • infusion-molded carbon/kevlar ultralight structure
  • rated for performance under high load
  • 13.5 ft wingspan

Profile Composites is also involved in supporting the development of a cost-effective infusion manufacturing solution for very large (15 m x 17 m) offset radio telescope structures.

DRAO 15-m telescope

Previous development on this program included:
  • Design/analysis/manufacturing of carbon-epoxy infused structural beams
  • Assistance in dish design and production
  • Analysis and base-line costing of on-site high-volume manufacturing
  • Production analysis for 4,000 dishes over 3 years (SKA program targets)
See a movie of the dish raising in .wmv or .mov!
